Conveyancing is a legal procedure whereby the ownership of immovable property is transferred from person to the other, in other words it is the changing of ownership. Conveyancing can also be defined as the branch of law concerned with the preparation of documents for the transfer of property or the action of preparing documents for changing ownership. It is also a legal process of buying and selling properties.

In Zimbabwe the conveyancing department offers or provides service to both foreigners, local, individuals and commercial clients. The team consist of clerks and conveyors who have knowledge and experience of properties in the Zimbabwean market. Property ownership laws make it is legal for foreigners to own properties in Zimbabwe providing the funds are brought in from an external account to pay for it.

During the conveyance process a fee is paid and this is the buyer’s duty to do so. It is accepted practice for the seller to appoint the Conveyancer but normally it is argued that the buyer should have the right to choose the Conveyancer since he or she pays the cost.
