As you search for a house to rent whether using online platforms or traditional classified newspapers you are bound to come across abbreviations and terms in house descriptions that you may wonder what exactly they mean.
Some of the most common terms used in real estate are BICs, SLUG, DLUG, MES etc
So in this article I’ll explain to you some of them to you.
BICs: This is an abbreviation for Built In Cupboards.
MES: This is an abbreviation for Main-En-Suite Bathroom.
SLUG: This is an abbreviation for Single Lock Up Garage.
DLUG: this is an abbreviation for Double Lock Up Garage.
B.O.S: Borehole On-Site.
BEDSITTER: This refers to a one- roomed unit of accommodation typically consisting of combined bedroom and sitting room with cooking facilities.
BACHELOR PAD: This refers to an apartment with no bedrooms, in which one room serves as a bedroom, living room and dining room.
APARTMENT: This refers to a residential unit inside a building.
B’N’B: this refers to a short term accommodation which offers bed and breakfast.
Real estate abbreviations reduce the length of an advert for a home. They however help to save time and money.
